Figure Drawing, September 28, 2015

I’m still experimenting, getting used to drawing on sienna toned paper. Tonight, even though the model was not particularly inspiring, I found that it was possible to draw in the whole figure with a sienna colored conté pencil. This renders a very low contrast image which allows me to develop details from there. In this case, the head area, portrait style. The highlighted one here is an example of that approach.

Three fifteen minute poses. One above and two below. Conté pencil highlighted with conté crayon on toned Canson pastel paper. 32.5 x 50 cm or 13 x 19 3/4 in.

Three four minute gesture studies. Tonight I used conté pencil on the more expensive Canson pastel paper. 32.5 x 50 cm or 13 x 19 3/4 in.
