We had a great model tonight! Very athletic, plus he brought his own props. A muscular yet fluid body. Here is a collection of the a few of the keepers.

I’m happiest with the two gesture drawings from the start of the evening because they illustrate the “through-line” approach. That’s the technique of drawing foundational lines quickly and lightly. There may be overlapping body parts but you just continue (and erase later). Additionally, the line may continue past the body, the point is to let yourself to flow.

There are also two of the fifteen minute studies. The foundation gestural lines get softened by adding in structural shapes and forms, building out a three dimensional figure. In the first one I think the head is a bit too large, but I’m including it anyway because I really like what is happening in the torso. The second one is interesting, I think, because of the way the feet capture his twisted pose.
